Tiny Sculptures
The project began as the idea of a kind of durable “breadcrumbs” which I could leave behind in Slovakia to return something from the new world back to the places where my relatives came from. I planned to simply leave them around , but decided to give them to cultural organizations in eastern and central Slovakia, since the hosts of the Skolka Residency in Dubravica are part of a network of community cultural associations.
While I was in Dubravica, I made a new series using locally available terra cotta and glazes and firing them in a nearby kiln. They are markedly different, which surprised me.
